The Department of Sociology is looking to hire one or more tenure-track faculty members at the assistant professor level. All areas of interest to sociology will be considered; we are looking for candidates with promise and early evidence of a career of active and innovative scholarship.
Applications must be submitted online, at the University of Chicago's Academic Career Opportunities website, tinyurl.com/nbshdew, and are required to include 1) a brief cover letter; 2) a curriculum vitae; 3) a research and teaching statement, including concrete descriptions of future plans for research and teaching philosophy; and 4) one sample of the applicant's strongest written material (a published article or unpublished paper or chapter). In addition, applicants are encouraged to submit up to two additional writing samples or a book manuscript (these materials may be published or unpublished). The online application requires the names and contact information of three references.
To receive full consideration, early application is strongly recommended. Review of applications will begin on 9/15/2014, and continue until the position is filled. Applications received by 9/30/2014 are guaranteed full consideration.
