I was wondering if anyone here had recent experience with submitting to qualitative sociology and what that was like? I'm specifically concerned about the time from submission to first decision. Thank you for any help!

Yes. Submitted there recently. It took about 4 months to the first decision (r&r).

I accepted an invitation to review a manuscript a few weeks ago. The invite email asked for the review to be submitted in 42 days.

I am still waiting on a first decision for a paper I submitted there in early January.

I got a response in late June (a couple weeks ago) for a paper I submitted in early April. Less than 3 months from submission to decision.

Does anyone have any recent experience with this journal? Also, I have looked everywhere for a word or page limit but can't find anything on that. Dos anyone know what their limits are? Their full articles look to be about 20 pages...

The current editor (Smilde) is great. With R&Rs, he gives pretty specific advice on what needs to be changed/added to be accepted. That really helps when you have somewhat contradictory or brief reviews. In terms of limits, they ask for 40 pages double spaced. I'd also add that it takes 3-4 months from submission to first decision and a little bit less on the post-R&R decision.
