The Department of Anthropology and Sociology (http://www.usd.edu/soc/) at the University of South Dakota invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Sociology (nine-month, tenure-track) to begin August 22, 2014. A Ph.D. in sociology is required. The Search Committee will give preference to applicants who are both competent in, and willing to teach, Sociological Research Methods, Social Statistics, and a large section of Introduction to Sociology. The University emphasizes high quality teaching, active scholarship, and undergraduate participation in research. Applicants with vision, enthusiasm and a commitment to the development of the program are especially welcome. Applicants must submit 1) a cover letter that includes a statement of research and teaching interests, 2) a current vita, 3) graduate transcripts, and 4) names and contact information for three references. Applications must be submitted on-line at yourfuture.sdbor.edu. Review of applications begins on May 23, 2014 and continues until the position is filled.

Anyone know the teaching load at South Dakota. Small faculty and no MA. But I couldn't find info on load.

It's a 3-3 load. I wonder if this is an added line or if their stats person is leaving for greener pastures.

Yeah, very small group of faculty. Interesting to see a search for a TT position this late. Anyone have any additional info? And I'm assuming they'll move very quickly?
