Valdosta State University seeks two full time, tenure-track assistant professors in Sociology to begin August 1, 2014. Successful candidates for both positions are expected to participate in the rotation to teach undergraduate and graduate core classes (statistics, research methods, and social theory). Position One: Specialization areas are open but ability to teach courses in the Social Inequalities area of the major (Race and Ethnic Relations, Social Stratification, Poverty and Welfare, or Gender) is required, in addition to Statistics. Position Two: Specialization areas are open but ability to teach courses in the Institutions area of the major is required, in particular, Medical Sociology, or Sociology of Organizations and Work, Family Sociology, or Sociology of Sport. The program offers an MS and BA degree in sociology and both are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Programs in Applied and Clinical Sociology. Valdosta State University is a Comprehensive University serving 41 counties in South Georgia with a student enrollment of approximately 11,800.
