Sociology Teaching and Research Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL).
The Department of Sociology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks candidates for a Postdoctoral Fellowship position in both teaching and research. The Sociology Postdoctoral Fellowship at UNL provides an environment for advancing research and gaining teaching experience in a supportive environment. The UNL Sociology faculty welcomes applications that demonstrate research and teaching expertise in the following areas: health and health disparities (particularly disparities related to race and ethnicity), social inequality, quantitative and network methods broadly defined, bridging sociology and biology, and analysis of social media such as Twitter and Facebook. The UNL Sociology department welcomes the Postdoctoral Fellow to collaborate on projects throughout the department. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also teach three courses a year to fill department teaching needs. Our department is highly interdisciplinary, provides a thriving intellectual environment with regular colloquia and visiting speakers, and offers access to University-wide support for proposal development. The University of Nebraska has an established Survey Research and Methodology program, a Public Policy Center, a Minority Health Disparities Initiative, and a Center for Brains, Biology and Behavior with a new Functional MRI, and a new lab for Research, Evaluation & Analysis for Community Health (http://reach-lab.org/). Faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are pleased to actively mentor postdoctoral research. The University has an Office of Postdoctoral studies that provides resources, support and community (http://postdoc.unl.edu/). The Postdoctoral Fellow is welcome to participate in department professional development courses on teaching, publishing, and grant writing.
