I'm in the stage of research where I have played around with the data and have some findings. And I'm thinking about a frame. It's an area I don't know much about so I'm reading up. And when I open an article pdf and see that it's 30+ pages, I just feel so downtrodden.

Same here. I'm venturing into two new areas, both stemming from my diss. I wish there was an academic journal that was like the game show, Jeopardy, where we just submit a write up of our data, methods, and results, and then let the reader figure out what the research question is and which literatures it ties into. Good luck!
