They only used two reviewers, so the time from submission to acceptance was pretty quick. As a sociologist, be aware that you'll be reviewed by folks in psych and social work, too. A couple of years ago they were running a serious backlog, so my paper took a LONG time to even appear OnlineFirst. I think they might have caught up since then, but I'd check (for example, a few years ago the October issue didn't appear until Feb).

This is a feminist journal, so make sure your work has some sort of a feminist slant. I have submitted a couple of quanitative papers for Violence Against Women. The reviewers have been pretty sound in their critiques and the editor is fair with her decisions.

Two years ago I had a paper returned four months later with only one review. The review was not helpful and was insulting. The basic gist of the review was "Do not try to publish this anywhere else, either." Probably my worst experience at a journal.
That said, colleagues who have submitted there in the past were very surprised by this when I showed them the review--no one seems to have had this sort of experience at this journal before. So my experience may be anomalous.
