I had three really promising interviews through the ASA Employment Service at ASA last month. One of them is my dream job; the other two are really solid. I've just read else-thread that that's a great sign to have been interviewed at ASA; the author of the thread said they'd kept in touch with the chair of the department at which they interviewed since. I've been given conflicting information on whether to do this. Some say "don't do it; it's bad to push or bother them before they contact you for an on-campus interview." Others have said "Hell yes, keep in touch with them!"
So, if yes, how should I go about keeping in contact with the people who interviewed me at ASA, without being overly pushy? Any ideas?

I would be careful about getting your hopes up about interviewing at ASA. Some schools had their schedules full and interviewed 30+ people. It's been a month since ASA speed dating. Did you send a follow up email initially? If not, it seems like it would be weird to do so this much later. If you didn't send an initial follow up, do you actually have a reason to contact them at this point? Was there a particular article or paper that you discussed that has since been accepted for publication? If you don't really have a specific reason to update them (significant change on CV), then I think it seems pretty forced.

I think the best rule of thumb is that if something feels forced and awkward you probably should not do it. It sounds like you think you made a good impression during the interview and you probably did. Why substitute that impression for an awkwardly worded email that arrives like a month later...

I did send follow-up thank-you emails to all three schools while I was still at ASA. I agree with the idea that any further contact from me should only be to update them on some significant change in the CV, so I'll just sit tight and hope that the good initial impression has maintained itself and that they'll be in touch. Thanks.
