This is probably a dumb question, but do you think that having a postdoc position, several publications, mentoring and teaching experience qualify someone for an "advanced assistant" position?

As a faculty member of a dept. looking for a "late assistant," we are considering anyone with PhD in hand who is impressive enough to compete with folks who have been teaching a few years. Don't ask me why we would ask for late asst. instead of just saying "anyone with a PhD and an impressive CV," that's just the way it is. I would go for it.

It's always helpful hearing from members of departments that are hiring.
