Hi there,
I am going to hire a transcriber to transcribe some interviews. How do I deal with ensuring confidentiality? I'm hiring an individual, not a service.
Thanks!

Have them go through IRB training. Keep a copy of their certificate for your university's IRB

You mean the CITI training?
Anything having to do with my particular study?

I am not about this, it is only a guess. Can the transcriber possibly know the person who is being interviewed? If not, a researcher can probably have interviews transcribed without having the transcriber go through the citi training.

I don't know what CITI training is, but the regular training is not about if the person knows the other, but about not giving or talking about the information and how to store the information. In any IRB I've done, any person with access to the information needs to go through human subjects review
