The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton College invites applications for a visiting appointment in Sociology commencing September 1, 2014. Carleton operates on a trimester schedule and the teaching load for this position consists of five courses spread across three terms. We seek a candidate who can offer a breadth of courses at every level of instruction. We are especially interested in candidates with teaching and research expertise in the areas of crime, law, and deviance and/or community and urban sociology. Other substantive areas also will be considered. The successful candidate is dedicated to excellent teaching in a liberal arts environment, welcomes opportunities to work with students as partners in learning, and is committed to teaching a diverse student body. Preference will be given to candidates with either a Ph.D. or advanced ABD status by September 2014.
