Hello,
Is there a reliable place to find journal acceptance rates and other stats?
I have found this information before, but it's always been sporadic. I don't know where to go to find it.
Thanks!

Any suggestions about non-ASA journals like Social Forces or Demography? Is it appropriate to write the journal?

look up the editors reports to the organizations the journals are affiliated with (demography-PAA, social forces-Southern Soc Society, etc.)

FWIW, Social Forces is not the journal of the Southerns. But, you should still be able to contact the editor of SF to get the annual report.

Demography's cohort acceptance rates listed in Tolnay's report p6-7 of Summer 2013 PAA Affairs

I don't know of a place where all of this information exists, and often have a hard time finding it for journals not affiliated with any organization. I wish it did exist! I recently had a paper from Social Problems rejected, and in the decision letter they said their acceptance rate is 8% (ouch!).

I'm also looking for acceptance rates for Social Forces and Poetics without having to contact the editors directly. Bumping this up in case anyone knows either...

According to SF editor, they "publish only about fifteen percent of the manuscripts submitted."
