Sociology of Education: Assistant Professor. The Department of Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor faculty position in Sociology of Education. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to local, state, national and international study of education across the P-20 landscape, with a preferred focus on primary and secondary education. We seek candidates with a disciplinary base in sociological study of education together with strong research skills working with quantitative data sets and/or mixed methods. The candidate will join a department committed to interdisciplinary study of P-20 educational policy, its formation, implementation and evaluation. We offer an EdD in Educational Policy Studies, Evaluation & Measurement, a PhD in Studies in Higher Education, an MS in Social and Philosophical Studies, an MS in Higher Education, and a graduate certificate in International Higher Education. Responsibilities: Develop and teach graduate courses in sociology of education, social policy issues in education, policy analysis, and/or research and evaluation methods. The successful candidate will also support educator professional preparation programs and the new Evaluation Center, advise graduate students, conduct and publish research, seek research funding, and contribute to partnerships with governmental, educational, and community agencies on key education issues. Qualifications: 1) Earned doctorate in studies in sociology of education or related field and 2) demonstrated record of scholarly research, publication and teaching.
