The School of Social & Political Sciences is at the forefront of teaching and research in the social sciences in Australia. We have a team of dedicated academic and professional staff in the disciplines of Political Science, Criminology, Anthropology and Sociology as well as our allied research centres providing a dynamic and rewarding environment. The School offers a wide range of courses and programs in areas including criminology, development studies, gender studies, international studies, political science, public and social policy, social theory, socio-legal studies, sociology and anthropology.
The Lecturer in Sociology will have research and teaching experience within a sociological framework.The Lecturer in Sociology will undertake research resulting in publications with leading publishers in the field and will teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As well as teaching in their areas of interest the successful candidate will have the ability to teach core subjects in the sociology curriculum. The Lecturer in Sociology will supervise honours and postgraduate coursework theses and participate in supervisory panels at the research higher degree level. The Lecturer in Sociology will also undertake administrative tasks associated with the appointee's responsibility in teaching and research and foster links with external networks and partners nationally and internationally.
