The University of Northern Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the criminology program to begin August 2014. Area of research and teaching specialization is open. Completed Ph.D. in sociology, criminology, criminal justice, or related field by the time of appointment is required. ABDs in an above field from a nationally or internationally-recognized doctoral program with evidence of degree completion by August 2014 will be considered. Evidence of teaching quality and potential for high quality research and publishing agenda are required. The teaching load is 3-3. Apply at jobs.uni.edu/faculty/view/50321. You will be asked to submit a Cover Letter, CV, Writing Sample, and Evidence of Teaching Effectiveness. Three letters of reference should be emailed to Phyllis Baker at Phyllis.Baker@uni.edu. FWIW, the Criminology section is primarily composed of Sociology PhDs who specialize in crime and criminal justice issues. The Sociology and Criminology programs share several core courses such as Introduction to Sociology, Research Methods, and Statistics, and Criminology professors historically have taught sections of these classes as well.
