Job Description:
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2014. The faculty at Farmingdale State College has three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. The successful candidate will be expected to teach quantitative research methods among other courses. The successful candidate must demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty and has the potential for peer-reviewed publications and presentations. An established record of scholarship is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate their contributions to another distinct field of sociological inquiry; this area of expertise is open. Service includes advising students as well as serving on departmental and college wide committees. All three of these components are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in hand by date of hire is required; experience teaching Sociology at the undergraduate level; experience utilizing or teaching quantitative research methods; research agenda with potential for external sponsorship and peer-reviewed publications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience utilizing or teaching qualitative research methods; experiential or educational background to teach survey design and statistics utilizing SPSS; experience working with undergraduate students on research projects; established record of scholarship.
