Does anyone know the current status of this search? The job ad says that they began reviewing applications on July 15, through I recently saw the ad re-circulated to one of the listservs I'm on.

Received on our departmental e-mail listserv today from one of our faculty who received the following message from a member of the search committee: "We are not getting quite the candidate pool I had hoped for. If you know of folks who are entering the labor market and might have an interest, could you please pass this along. The two pieces that are truly important to the department are the Africa or African-American teaching/research focus, and an interest in teaching methods--particularly in putting together mixed methods classes (e.g., mapping, network analysis, etc). We are starting to review files, but accepting them for another month."

If that's why they wanted they should have specified that!! Saying mixed-methods or quantitative methods is an awful way of signaling what they now say they want!

It appears as though the anthro folks and the soc folks in the department couldn't agree on whether the line should be for an anthropologist or a sociologist. Can you say failed search...

Their chair just sent my department a call for applications. Look's like they are still fishing for people.

Merged the two lewis and clark threads, removed posts discussing the fact that there were two threads.

Got a message from the chair yesterday--they are scheduling 8 phone interviews. Have they given up on getting an AFAM + networks person? I applied in July...
