Birmingham-Southern College is pleased to announce a search for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology beginning Fall 2014. Required qualifications are a Ph.D. in Sociology completed by September 2014. The College seeks exceptional candidates committed to its philosophy of liberal arts education regardless of their fields of specialization. BSC is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their teaching, research, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory sociology courses, courses in the sociology of health and medicine upper-level as well as upper level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
Birmingham-Southern College is a highly selective liberal arts college consistently recognized for its academic quality. The college currently enrolls approximately 1300 undergraduate students and is a sheltering institution for a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
Qualified applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, writing sample, evidence of teaching effectiveness that includes a summary of all prior teaching evaluations, a copy of all graduate transcripts, and three letters of recommendation.
