Sociology - Temporary Instructor Position at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
The Department of Sociology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for a non-tenure lecturer position beginning January, 2014. The initial appointment will be to May, 2015 with the potential for renewal. We seek applications from candidates who have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and can contribute to our core curriculum, including introductory courses and substantive areas that match the candidate’s areas of specialization. Applicants should have a PhD in Sociology or be ABD by the start of the appointment. Salary is negotiable based on teaching load.
The department faculty are aware that these type of positions are transitional to tenure-track opportunities in the discipline and we work to support early career scholars in the development of their teaching and research. We provide a supportive environment in a small, research intensive, department.
To apply, submit a letter of application that addresses your teaching interests and experience, a curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information for three references. These application materials should be submitted to socjob2013@unl.edu.
The review of applications will begin August 30, 2013 and will continue until the position is filled. If you are attending the ASA meeting in New York City and would like to have an opportunity to discuss this position, please send a copy of your curriculum vitae with e-mail contact information to socjob2013@unl.edu. To the extent possible, we will set up informational meetings to provide candidates with information about this employment opportunity.
The University of Nebraska is committed to a pluralistic campus community through affirmative action, equal opportunity, and work-life balance.
