Posting Summary: Drexel University School of Public Health invites applications for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Community Health and Prevention. The Department of Community Health and Prevention has a diverse 12-member faculty, trained in sociology, communication, history, public health, medicine and other disciplines. Recent and current extramural research funding from NIH, CDC, NSF, DOD and other sources includes support for post-doctoral and pre-doctoral training, including a five-year $1.7 million NIMHD R25 in health disparities research. The well-established doctoral program, with 24 current students, focuses on methodological and theory-based training, framed in the context of CBPR, health equality and social justice. Research initiatives led by department faculty include LGBT health, faith and health, substance abuse and mental health, HIV/AIDS, chronic disease disparities, maternal and child health, public health ethics, GIS and spatial methods, and evaluations of City and State public health initiatives.
Qualifications: We are especially interested in increasing our capacity in social psychology, anthropology, geography, communication, policy and ethics, ethnicity and health (including new immigrant populations, Native American, Latino/a, Asian American and African American health), and global health. Methodological expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methods, GIS and community-level analysis, and engagement and scholarship with diverse populations and issues, including migrant, immigrant, and rural population health, women's health, and LGBT health is valued.
Responsibilities: Full-time University-supported faculty appointments involve teaching and advising in doctoral, masters and undergraduate programs, developing and conducting public health research, and contributing to the service and scientific mission of the Department, School and University. Demonstrated scholarly academic accomplishments, as well as a record of obtaining extramural research support, are important.
