Job Announcement: The Management and Organization (MOR) Department at the USC-Marshall School of Business seeks to hire new tenure-track faculty members in strategy, to begin in Fall 2014. We welcome applications from candidates at all ranks. We seek candidates who are, or have the potential to become, leading scholars on topics relevant to strategy and organizations, including but not limited to innovation, entrepreneurship, international business, alliances and outsourcing. We are also looking for displayed capability in teaching.
The MOR department is interdisciplinary; our 25 tenured/tenure-track faculty members have backgrounds in organizational behavior, psychology, sociology, economics and general management. In the strategy area, research interests are broad and faculty complement publishing in strategy journals with publications in economics and sociology journals. We are open to all kinds of methods and approaches, but as we have hired several terrific OT scholars in recent years, there is a preference this year for a candidate who would help balance out the group by providing some element of economic foundation. We use the term economic orientation broadly and seek scholars who want to engage in a multi-disciplinary group and can focus on core strategy questions with some foundation in economics. We have a preference for scholars engaged in empirical work. We are seeking faculty who want to engage the strategy community, which includes publishing in strategy journals. Our faculty teaches courses at the undergraduate, MBA, Ph.D. and executive levels. Please visit www.marshall.usc.edu/MOR for more information about faculty research and publications. Internal funding for research is generous.
Interested candidates should submit an electronic application consisting of a current vita and cover letter. Please include the names and email addresses of three references in your application. We will be requesting letters from them and those letters are sent back confidentially into the system. You can complete the online portion of the application process by submitting those documents. You will receive a confirmation number. Then, please email the following documents to strategy2014@community.usc.edu: (1) current vita; (2) cover letter; (3) statement of research; (4) philosophy of teaching; (4) dissertation proposal summary (for those just completing their PhD); at least two, and preferably three, representative research papers. All materials must be received on or before October 15, 2013. Only electronic application materials will be accepted, so please do not mail hard copies.
Salary is dependent on qualifications, and employee benefits for full-time faculty are excellent.
The University of Southern California values diversity in its entire faculty and is committed to equal opportunity in employment. Women, men, and members of all racial and ethnic groups are encouraged to apply.
