The University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for an assistant professor or Associate professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice(SCCJ). The University and School have a strong commitment to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from members of under-represented groups and encourage women and persons of color to apply. The School consists of 20+ full-time faculty and 5 full-time staff residing on both the Omaha and Lincoln campuses. This position will be housed on the Lincoln campus, where there are seven other full-time faculty assigned. A furnished, private office and computing and software needs will be provided.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties fall into three categories: teaching, research, and service. Teaching 2-3 courses each term is expected as well as working individually with undergraduate and graduate students on independent study projects, committees, and as an advisor. Also expected is an active and productive research program that generates high quality research products. Finally, all faculty are expected to engage in service to the School/College/University, to the profession, and to the community. The nature of service assignments varies by person.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must hold PhD in criminology or criminal justice or in a related field (e.g., sociology, psychology, public administration) at the time of the appointment. Must have either a demonstrated record of quality research or indication of the potential to engage in quality research. Must have experience related to teaching at the college level.
Applicants for advanced Assistant Professor or Associate Professor must have a strong teaching record at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and evidence of sustained, high quality research activity as demonstrated by publications in nationally ranked peer-reviewed journals and/or grants activity.
Must be able to teach in face-to-face and online environments, must be able to communicate effectively, must be able to carry out work associated with own research agenda.
