The Department of Social and Cultural Sciences invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2014.
The Department of Social and Cultural Sciences offers undergraduate majors in Anthropology, Criminology and Law Studies, Social Welfare and Justice, and Sociology. Faculty members conduct research on race, immigration, therapy, family, human service organizations, and prisoner re-entry, among other areas. Essential Functions
Teaching five undergraduate courses a year (3-2 load), advising of students, service to the department, and research & publication.
Duties and Responsibilities
Applicants should be prepared to contribute primarily to the Sociology major and should be able and willing to teach in more than one of the following areas: Applied Sociology; Aging/Life Course; Political/Labor Sociology; Global Sociology; Popular Culture. Research specialization open. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly productivity, and a coherent research agenda.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Earned doctorate or a terminal degree. Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and high quality research.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
ABD may be considered. MSW a plus.
