Assistant Professor – Sociology
MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY
The Department of Social and Cultural Sciences invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2014. Applicants should be prepared to contribute primarily to the Sociology major and should be able and willing to teach in more than one of the following areas: Applied Sociology; Aging/Life Course; Political/Labor Sociology; Global Sociology; Popular Culture. Research specialization open. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly productivity, and a coherent research agenda. Ph.D. strongly preferred, but ABDs will be considered. MSW a plus.
The Department of Social and Cultural Sciences offers undergraduate majors in Anthropology, Criminology and Law Studies, Social Welfare and Justice, and Sociology. Faculty members conduct research on race, immigration, therapy, family, human service organizations, and prisoner re-entry, among other areas. The department is committed to excellence in both teaching and scholarship. Preference may be given to candidates who can contribute to more than one of the department’s majors.
