I have successfully defended my dissertation and am starting a tt job in the fall. Yay!
My dissertation committee was absolutely wonderful, and I would like to get them small thank you gifts - nothing pricy, but a small thank you. Is this appropriate? What kinds of gifts would you suggest?
Thanks for any thoughts on this!

I gave my advisor a gift (and my letter writers). I chose something based on her personal interests, a pretty trinket for her office that she could point to and say "one of my former advisees got me that." Does your advisor like gardening, bicycling, a certain kind of animal, poetry, etc? These kinds of things could show up on a mug, paper weight, mini statue, or little wall hanging. I didn't spend a ton, but I did include a card letting her know how much her guidance and support meant to me over the years. Cheesy but true...it's the thought that counts.
Good luck and congrats on defending :-)
