Chair, Department of Sociology
Applications are invited for the position of Chair, Department of Sociology at McMaster University, commencing July 1, 2014. We seek a candidate with demonstrated leadership abilities and, ideally, previous experience as a department chair. The area of expertise is open. The successful candidate will have a PhD in sociology and will hold the rank of Professor or senior Associate Professor at the time of their application. The candidate will also have established a strong record of sociological research, and will have the ability to teach effectively in undergraduate courses and engage in the teaching and supervision of master's and doctoral students. The Department seeks a Chair with a demonstrated commitment to inclusion and to developing strategies to enhance and support the diversity of our faculty.
The Department of Sociology is a research-oriented department with a large undergraduate program and an active graduate program leading to the degrees of MA and PhD in Sociology. Further information on the Department of Sociology can be found at www.socsci.mcmaster.ca/sociology/
