RESPONSIBILITIES:
* The candidate will teach four sections of Sociology of Families (SOC 212) and/or Advanced Topics in Family Sociology (SOC 435) each semester.
* The candidate will participate in department and university committees, as appropriate.
* The candidate will engage in scholarly research, as appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* This position requires an ABD or Ph.D. in Sociology or related field at the time of hire.
* This position requires a demonstrated interest in Family Sociology, as evidenced by any of the following: 1) Experience teaching Family Sociology; 2) Publications within the discipline of Family Sociology; 3) Conference presentation within the discipline of Family Sociology; 4) Doctoral concentration in Family Sociology; and/or 5) Three or more semesters of graduate level Family Sociology coursework.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* The candidate will have: 1) Relevant teaching experience at the college level, including experience teaching Family Sociology; 2) Quality graduate course work, 3) Research experience; and 4) Relevant non-academic and/or professional experience.
* The candidate will possess: 1) Leadership ability; 2) Effective communication skills; 3) Experience working with classroom technology; and 4) Innovative teaching methods.
The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
