Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track Position in Sociological Theory
The University of Windsor invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology in the area of Sociological Theory at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing as early as July 1, 2013. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology offers BA level programs in Sociology, Anthropology, Criminology, and Family and Social Relations. The Department also offers three graduate programs ? MA and PhD in Sociology and an MA in Criminology. The Department is distinguished by an excellent research and publication record, high student interest in our programs, and community-based research alliances. Applicants must possess a PhD in Sociology (or be near completion of a PhD in Sociology with a scheduled dissertation defense). Preferably, applicants will have both teaching experience and a research program in the area of Sociological Theory. In addition, applicants will be expected to contribute to one or more substantive areas. As we are currently involved in a dynamic process of revisioning our programs and courses the substantive areas are not restricted to our current course offerings.
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for assisting us in the delivery of our theory courses. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in departmental committees, contribute to our revisioning process, and engage with the community.

a letter of application, including a statement of citizenship/immigration status;
a current curriculum vitae;
a research statement detailing research interests and potential for scholarly achievement;
a teaching dossier that includes evidence of teaching effectiveness, teaching evaluations (if available), sample course syllabi/outlines, and a statement of teaching philosophy and interests
samples of scholarly work;
graduate transcripts; and
three current letters of reference forwarded by the referees.
