Quick question about CV's:
I've recently been nominated for a fairly high-profile, national award (not a paper award; think one that recognizes overall achievement). Do you think it would be seen as CV-padding to put the nomination on my CV, even if I don't win it?
I obviously want my CV to be strong, but at the same time, want to follow common professional practices.

My understanding is that if the nominations are made public, and if simply being nominated is considered an honor, then the answer is yes. Put the nomination on your c.v.

The nomination belongs there. This is important information, because it says that others recognize the importance of your work and what you have already accomplished. Don't be afraid to promote yourself.
