University of Alabama in Huntsville. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2013. We seek a sociologist with a primary specialization in science and technology who can teach both upper and lower level courses in that area. The College of Liberal Arts is organizing an interdisciplinary program in Science, Technology, and Society (STS), and candidates who could contribute to that program are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will also be willing to teach Sociology of Marriage and Family as well as other courses in sociology that effectively complement the teaching areas of the department faculty and fit the needs of our program. We seek serious teacher-scholars--individuals capable of excellent teaching and whose research indicates significant potential for peer-reviewed publishing in sociology. The regular teaching load is three courses per semester. ABD candidates in Sociology will be considered, but a Ph.D. in Sociology is required by the time of appointment. Applications should include Curriculum Vitae, contact information for three references (including name, address, phone number and email address), and copies of transcripts (these can be unofficial copies at the initial stage, but official copies will be required at the hiring stage). Applications should be sent via email to Mitch Berbrier at mitch.berbrier@uah.edu. Review of Applications will begin immediately, and continue until the position is filled. The University of Alabama in Huntsville is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action institution, and minorities are encouraged to apply.
