Hi Everyone, I am thinking about submitting my work to JHSB. Anyone with recent experiences with the journal? Also, anyone has a good sense of how many submissions they receive/reject/R&R etc.? I was looking for some stats online to get a sense of how picky they are but didn't come across any. Thanks!

They have an 88% rejection rate. It' a difficult journal to hit, but it's considered a top specialty among medical sociologists.

88%, eh? that seems pretty high for a specialty journal. i had no idea they were THAT picky.

Does anyone have recent experience with turnaround times at JHSB?

I waited 10 weeks for an R&R, then 8 weeks for a conditional accept and finally 6 months for the publication on paper. I was very pleased with the experience.

JHSB has had the best succession of editors for the past decade. Really thoughtful, fast, good at clarifying which reviewers comments are most important and which you can ignore. They have also published great articles and the impact factor continues to climb,
