Garrett College, a two-year learner-centered college located in a rural four-season recreational environment in western Maryland, seeks a full-time Assistant Professor of Sociology. In addition to courses in Sociology, the ideal candidate will have the ability to also teach courses in juvenile and/or criminal justice and other related social sciences. The College is searching for an enthusiastic, energetic, dedicated professional to instruct a range of courses, including those offered online or in a hybrid format; to advise students; and to play an active role in the college community, including serving on committees.
Qualified applicants will hold a masters degree in Sociology or a M.S.W. in Social Work, or a masters degree in a closely related field. At least two years of full-time college teaching experience, or the equivalent, is required as is a commitment to a learner-centered environment marked by academic integrity. Community college teaching experience is desired. Additionally, Garrett College seeks applicants who can contribute to the enrichment of the multi-cultural and learning environment of the College.
Garrett College is located 180 miles west of Baltimore and 120 miles south of Pittsburgh. The College is within walking distance of scenic Deep Creek Lake and the Wisp Ski Resort.
Hiring Range: $42,404 to $59,514 with an excellent fringe benefit package available upon successful completion of provisional period.
