We are looking for a dynamic individual to instruct university-level courses in sociology and related disciplines, especially Women’s and Gender Studies. The sociology instructor will provide students with foundational knowledge essential to various Yukon College programs and career paths, credits transferrable to other colleges and universities, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
The successful candidate will stay current in sociology and trends in postsecondary education through ongoing professional development, promote Liberal Arts courses and programs to the public and prospective students, serve on College committees, and advise students on their academic pathways.
Applicants should have a Master’s or PhD in sociology or a Master’s or PhD in a related discipline with experience teaching sociology. Additional experience in any of the following will be considered an asset:
teaching First Nations students and/or indigenous studies courses
teaching through distance-education technologies
teaching adult learners
research in sociology or related disciplines and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning.
