Any experience with Journal of Applied Social Science?
I have a "public sociology" paper that I'm working on and looking for good venues to submit it to. It was a small scale study done in coordination with a local neighborhood association. I'm not aiming super high with this paper, just want to get it out there.
If not this journal, does anyone have advice for a different one?

Critical Sociology, City and Community, Community Development, and Sociological Spectrum all publish the kind of public sociology that you seem to be interested in.

Applied sociology is often considered different -- and to many, antagonistic -- to public sociology. The journal is most relevant for research that fits the model of sociologists working with clients (as opposed to "publics", like Burawoy would advocate). My $0.02.

If the paper deals with poverty or class issues, you might look at the journal of povert or race, class, & gender

I have a reflection piece about bridging academic and applied worlds that I think would be a perfect fit for JASS. But, I'm seeing that it is not indexed at my university. Does anyone know of another publication outlet that would be interested in a short (5-8 page) reflection on the process of doing applied research (in health care setting, in case that helps)?

Why does it need to be indexed at your uni?
