The University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications for three tenure-stream appointments in the area of Health Studies. These appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, and will commence July 1, 2013.
Exceptional, successful applicants who fulfill eligibility requirements may also be considered for nomination for a Canada Research Chair (Tier II). We especially encourage applications from candidates with an excellent research record in health policy, the social, spatial and behavioural determinants of health, epidemiology, health services research, health economics, or community health. Initially, the Department of Anthropology will be the home department for this appointment, because currently, Health Studies is housed there. The area of Health Studies has been identified as a key priority for the University of Toronto Scarborough and we expect that Health Studies will become an independent unit in the near future.
The successful candidates must have a PhD in a relevant health related field in the social or health sciences. They also must have records of excellence in research, show potential to develop externally funded, vibrant research programs, and exhibit the capacity for demonstrated excellence as instructors at the undergraduate and graduate level. The appointments are at the University of Toronto Scarborough, which is a research-intensive institution with an interdisciplinary commitment, a multicultural student body, and a modern growing campus. The University offers the opportunity to conduct research, teach, and live in one of the most diverse cities in the world. The University also offers opportunities to work in a range of collaborative programs and centres of research. In addition to teaching in the undergraduate program at the University of Toronto Scarborough, the successful candidates will be members of a tri-campus graduate department in the health or social sciences, or in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Faculty will be expected to teach in its graduate and/or professional programs and supervise graduate students. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
All qualified candidates are invited to apply by clicking on the link below. Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier, (including a statement of teaching philosophy), a statement outlining current and future research interests, and three recent publications. Please direct inquiries about these positions to: healthsearch@utsc.utoronto.ca. All application materials should be submitted online.
The UofT application system can accommodate up to five attachments (10 MB) per candidate profile; please combine attachments into one or two files in PDF/MS Word format. Submission guidelines can be found at: uoft.me/how-to-apply.
Applicants should also ask three referees to send letters directly to the dean’s office via e-mail to healthsearch@utsc.utoronto.ca by December 17, 2012.
