The ASA block of hotel rooms at Caesar's Palace for the 2011 annual meeting in Las Vegas are very reasonably priced: $150/night for the weekend, $100/night for Monday and Tuesday. Not bad for a 5-star hotel where rooms normally cost $300 or more. As of this writing you can still book those through the asanet.org annual meeting website.
If you're on a budget and looking for something cheaper, you might consider the "Imperial Palace," located across the street from CP. Definitely not a luxury hotel, but ideally located and a fraction of the cost. Here's the deal I got for a "deluxe" room, booking from the hotel's website:
$65 -- Saturday night
$20 -- Sunday and Monday nights
Total of $120 for a 3-night stay, including taxes. They will immediately charge the first night's stay to your credit card as a deposit, but this is refundable if you cancel at least 72 hours in advance.

According to the reviews on tripadvisor.com, the hotel hasn't been refurbished in a while and there's a definite lack of attention to details or cushy amenities.

The most common complaints include long lines to check-in, a smoky and noisy casino, tired carpets, bland rooms, and showers that don't drain well. But if you can live with those potential issues for a few days and don't plan on trying to impress any VIPs by entertaining in your room, it might be worth checking out.
Tips: Register (for free) in Harrah's "travel rewards" program first and then log in to get better deals on their reservation site. Ask for a room on a high floor in one of the towers. Avoid the "Capri" rooms which are located in a separate building about 100 yards away.
If anyone has more info about this hotel please post your comments here, hopefully it isn't too much of a dog!

Just because I'm a bit nervous about booking such a cheap hotel room, I searched the youtubes for some videos and found some that put my mind at ease. Best to ignore the cheesy commentary / soundtracks, but these give you an idea of what the hotel is like. Sounds like I might have to ask for a "refurbished" room when I check in.
