I submitted last year - 4 months and a reject. 2 useful reviews, 1 that didn't seem to read my paper, but overall I was happy with the editor and experience.

Had a paper that had bounced around a couple general interest soc journals barely missing the cutoff and sent it there. Submitted in August, R&R in November, resubmitted sometime December and accepted in February with very nice comments.
It was published online over the summer and is forthcoming in 2013. all in all a very positive experience after some very, very strange experiences in other journals with the same article.

4 months to very kind & useful reviews for a rejection, with a very supportive letter from the editor about publishing elsewhere. good experience.

This deserves an update. The new editor, Rob Warren, is fantastic. Our reviews came back in 5 weeks. The reviews were fantastic, thoughtful, and dramatically improved the paper. The editor wrote a long letter with all kinds of suggestions on how to tackle the different suggestions. We had a huge amount of work to do, but the editor and reviewers judged it fairly. One note--they turn around papers fast, but also want you to turn around your R&Rs fast...at most journals, we would have been given 6 months for that many changes but they wanted 3 at ours. Highly recommend.
