Position Summary:
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenured associate or full professor to fill the Howard W. Odum chair, to start July 1, 2012. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong research record who are playing a leadership role in the discipline. Successful candidates must exhibit strong commitment to research and publication, as well as teaching and mentoring of graduate students.
Education Requirements:
PhD in sociology
Qualifications and Experience:
We are seeking a candidate at the rank of associate or full professor whose work is innovative in substance, theory, and/or methodology, and is currently shaping a growing field of inquiry. The candidate will have an effective program of funded research that features mentoring and collaborating with graduate students and junior scholars. The successful candidate will be expected to play important leadership roles in the department and university, and in national and international organizations
