The Department of Sociology at The University of Texas - Pan American (UTPA) invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Sociology of Health/Medical Sociology, to begin in the fall semester 2013.
Required qualifications for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor include a conferred doctorate in Sociology by September 1, 2013. The candidate must demonstrate ability to work with scholars from other disciplines as well as excellence in scholarly research and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Grant writing experience is preferred.
Required qualifications for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor: 1) earned doctorate in Sociology; 2) demonstrated record of research, publication and funding consistent with the rank of associate professor; 3) a well-developed research agenda; 4) demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2012. To assure full consideration, please send an application letter, curriculum vitae, a recent writing sample (e.g., a published paper), and names and contact information of three references. The deadline for applications is January 15, 2013. Salary will be commensurate to qualifications and experience. Hiring is subject to budgetary approval.
