The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of social inequality to start fall 2012. We seek applicants with a research specialization in social class, gender inequality, or race/ethnicity and whose research may link to other substantive areas in the department (health, culture, and social psychology). Candidates should be prepared to teach social inequality courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and to contribute to the teaching of core courses in either theory or statistics.
The candidate should have completed the PhD or be very close to completing the PhD by Fall 2012. The review of applications will begin on October 10, 2011. Please send (as a Word document or PDF) a letter of application, curriculum vitae, research statement, teaching statement (including summary of teaching experiences and evaluations), no more than two samples of publications or other written work, and three letters of reference to: sociologysearch@emory.edu. Alternatively, materials may be sent to Social Inequality Search Committee, Department of Sociology, Emory University, Atlanta, GA 30322. Please address questions to either Dr. Alexander M. Hicks, Chair Search Committee (ahicks@emory.edu) or Ms. Maggie Stephens (mstep01@emory.edu).
Emory University and the Sociology department value diversity and seek talented students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds. We strongly encourage applications from minorities and women. Emory University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
