Sociology/Criminology: The University of Denver Department of Sociology and Criminology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2012. Applications are sought from candidates with a strong record in scholarship and teaching in sociology of law. The department is particularly interested in candidates whose research on law examines one or more of the following substantive areas: environment, health/medicine, science/technology, and transnationalism. Candidates who can contribute to the University's socio-legal studies major are preferred. A Ph.D. in sociology or related fields is strongly preferred; ABD considered (JD insufficient). We are a department of active, productive scholars in the Division of Social Sciences with strong ties to the University's College of Law, Graduate School of Social Work, and other professional schools. The University of Denver, the oldest independent university in the Rocky Mountain region, enrolls over 11,000 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs. The Carnegie Foundation classifies the University of Denver as a research university with high research activity. Our department offers BA degrees in sociology and criminology. Salary is competitive.
