Has anyone published an article in an open access journal? Most of them require a publication fee (ranged between 100$ and 700$). To me, it doesn't sound like an academic avenue for publication. What do you guys think about this? I asked it because I have seen even full-time professors publishing in open access journals. In other words, they paid something to have published articles??? Isn't it weird?

do not try and publish in one. not only will you lose a bunch of coin but there is literally no pay off.
if you are having trouble getting a piece published in a generalist journal or leading specialty journal (which all pre-tenure folks should be shooting for) there are plenty of lesser known and obscure journals that don't charge you anything to submit.
