Michigan State University seeks candidates for a tenure track/system position at the Assistant Professor level, with joint appointment in the Comparative Cultures and Politics (CCP) major in James Madison College of Public Affairs (75%) and Lyman Briggs College (25%). The successful candidate will have substantive expertise in culture and public health in Africa or Asia (particularly South or Southeast Asia), with particular attention to the most vulnerable populations in those areas. Desired fields of interest include health inequalities, local perceptions of health or popular health cultures, and the local impact of national and international health programs and policies, among others. The successful candidate will also demonstrate commitment to excellent undergraduate teaching. Within James Madison College, the successful candidate will be able to teach in the introductory Comparative Cultures and Politics sequence and the upper division curriculum, including a senior capstone seminar. Within Lyman Briggs College, the successful candidate will teach in the History, Philosophy, and Sociology of Science curriculum: Introduction to HPS, upper-level substantive HPS courses, or the senior capstone seminar. Applicants should demonstrate commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in interdisciplinary programs that draw on social sciences and humanities and to achieving a substantial record of scholarship. Candidates may be from the disciplines of anthropology, sociology, geography and related disciplines.
