Manhattan College is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure track assistant professor of sociology position. Area of specialization is open and all qualified candidates will be considered. The department has particular interest in candidates focused on (1) global social policy, including welfare economics/development, and/or social geography.
Applicants with related interests in race and ethnicity, intersection, Black studies or Latino/a studies are particularly encouraged to apply. While candidates are welcome from social science disciplines other than sociology, the successful applicant should be able to teach introductory and core sociological courses. Applicants must posses a completed Ph.D. by April, 2013 in either sociology or a related social science field and must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching. We are especially interested in individuals capable of fostering critical thinking and who are sensitive to Manhattan College is commitment to social justice and service to the community.
