The Department of Sociology at Sam Houston State University announces an opening for a nine-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin fall 2013. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses and online graduate courses, maintain an active research program and provide service to the university and the discipline.
The SHSU Sociology Department is seeking candidates with teaching and research expertise in disasters, risk or environment. A PhD in sociology must be completed by the time of appointment. Applicants must have a research agenda leading to publications in refereed journals and must demonstrate the potential to acquire extramural funding. Evidence of excellence (or the promise of excellence) in teaching effectiveness is also required. Previous experience in the delivery of on-line courses is desirable. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
