The Department of Sociology and the A. Alfred Taubman Center for the Study of Public Policy and American Institutions at Brown University seek to recruit an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) who works in the area of inequality and public policy. We are seeking applicants whose research focuses on social disparities and policy outcomes in health, housing, crime, education, or other social policy arenas. Candidates whose research and teaching are on inequality and public policy in the United States will be given priority. However, applicants whose work is comparative at an international level will be considered. The successful applicant will hold a joint appointment and have equal teaching, advising, and administrative responsibilities in the Taubman Center and the Department of Sociology. Applicants must have a doctoral degree granted or in hand by August 2013. Applications should include: (1) a cover letter describing research completed and planned, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a short writing sample, (4) a sample syllabus, and (5) three letters of recommendation.
