Stanford University. The Department of Sociology, in collaboration with the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity (CCSRE) at Stanford University, as part of a university-wide Faculty Development Initiative sponsored by the Provost and the Dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences, has announced a tenure-line search for a new faculty position in the area of Asian American studies at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin September 1, 2013. We seek scholars whose work focuses on the experiences of Asian-origin people in the United States. Ideally this scholar would also have an interest and background in Asian studies and comparative studies in race and ethnicity. Research specializations might include, but are not limited to Asian American identities and racial formations, immigration and immigrant adaptation, and transnational connections among Asian peoples.
Interested applicants should send a letter of intent, including a brief statement of current and future research directions, a curriculum vita, a representative sample of scholarly writing, and three letters of recommendation. The review of applications will begin on October 10, 2012 and applicants are strongly encouraged to submit applications prior to that date; however, applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled. Stanford is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty. It welcomes nominations of, and applications from, women and members of minority groups, as well as others who would bring additional dimensions to the university’s research and teaching missions.
