Earlham College invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Sociology, beginning Fall 2013. The College seeks candidates with specialization in race and ethnicity in the United States who are prepared to contribute cross-listed courses to our African and African American Studies program. Annual course load includes one section of an introductory course, a course in research methods emphasizing quantitative and qualitative research methods, upper-division courses in areas of specialization, and a core course in our Human Development and Social Relations program. Earlham would especially welcome candidates with expertise in demography, transnationalism or some aspect of media studies. The successful candidate will bring to the Sociology/Anthropology department innovative teaching methods and research interests that address new areas of study and approaches in sociology. To Apply Applications should include a cover letter detailing teaching and research interests, a CV, and a writing sample or dissertation abstract. Additional materials such as sample syllabi and course descriptions are welcome but not required. Review of applications will begin on August 1, 2012, for preliminary interviews at the American Sociological Association annual meeting.
