Never heard of it.
Try submitting elsewhere first.

I can shenanigans. SSQ is a respected general journal. Anyone have experience with this journal? What was your time to decision?

SSQ was fairly unresponsive throughout a fairly drawn out review process. Original submission time to final acceptance (after 1 review): 1.5 years. However, I think it had more to due with unresponsive reviewers than the journal. I liked the journal staff and editors. I'd say submit!

In the automatically generated email you get after you submit, it says that:
Once a staff member inspects it and verifies that your submission is complete, your manuscript is readable, and your submission is appropriate for this journal, it will be assigned a Manuscript ID number and an editor who will be in charge of it. You will receive email confirmation once an editor has been assigned and the editor determines that your submission is appropriate for the journal and merits having experts assigned to review it. This first stage of the review process could take several weeks.
Several weeks? Doesn't that seem kind of slow? I feel like most editors try to get qualified manuscripts out to reviewers within a week or so. That's been my experience.

Anyone who has submitted in the last year or so know how long it typically takes to get a decision after an initial submission?

I just talked with someone in my department who recently had something published there. He said it took 8 months for an initial decision, and 6 months after re-submitting. It did get published eventually. Said they were poor at communicating with him, too. He said he'd think twice before submitting there again.
Have other people maybe had better experiences with SSQ?

For my submission to SSQ: For the initial submission, it was a 4-month wait time for an R&R. For the resubmission, it was a 6 month wait time for the acceptance.
