I'm just starting to do the employment service thing (later than might have been ideal...) and, although a previous post said there was a link at the top of the page on a school's ad to "send message to employer" I see no such link - all I see is the link for the email contact for the department. Are people sending emails of interest to those addresses, or is there some link that I'm missing (or that, through the wonders of ASA's technological prowess, fails to show up in Chrome or something)? thanks for any help! When I click on the magnifying glass for the job, Chrome opens that window at the very bottom of the ad. If you are inside that window and scroll up, you should be able to see the option to message employer. Its all very strange- not really that use friendly, but you should be able to see it.

Oh! You all have clearly already figured this out, but in case anyone else out there is as confused as I was - there's an *entirely different* interface for the Employment Service vs. the "job bank." So I uploaded my resume on the job bank (why did I do that? what does that do?), but not on the employment service. And I was searching in the job bank, which explains the lack of magnifying glasses and "click to contact employer" links. Jeez.

And the icons, they look like AOL 15 years ago!

^The site is best viewed in Internet Explorer 4. We also recommend Windows 95.

Unless ASA ES made major changes to the scheduling software, the system in place in recent years was a major headache for potential employers. There was no way to turn down interview requests from within the system, and when there are 150+ requests it becomes a real mess and time drain to deal with.
Messages could only be sent within the system if it accompanied an acceptance of a scheduling request.
Has this changed?

I've only used the system from the applicant's point of view so I'm not the best person to answer most of your questions. Someone noted on this board, though, that this year's system is a different one from last year. The current system certainly has flaws, but perhaps the problems you note have been fixed. It might be worthwhile contacting the ASA and asking them if no other employers respond on this board.
Here's the quote from an earlier posting about how it's a new system: "The Employment Service module has changed this year. Now there is no way to *just* express interest in a school. The only way to express interest in an employer is to "Send Message to Employer"" I'm not sure if that particular change makes it better or worse from the employer's point of view, but perhaps the interview requests that you complained about no longer exist.

Has UIC posted a job ad yet? You mean University of Illinois at Chicago on the employment service? Yes, see just a few posts up, E038. The position is also listed in the ASA Job Bank.

Nine days to go. I'm compiling a list of schools that have scheduled interviews. Any additions?
